A Scottish florist has become the first in the country to be given the Guild of Master Craftsmen’s Quality and Service Award, giving florists in Aberdeen, florists in Kilmarnock and other flower businesses north of the border an accolade to strive towards over the coming years.

The White Petal Company is only the fifth florist in the UK to receive the prestigious award, which celebrates excellence in terms of craftsmanship and customer service.

Based in the Stockbridge area of Edinburgh, The White Petal Company is owned by George Sirrell, who is understandably delighted to join an elite group of British businesses to offer an exceptionally high quality of service.

“It was a great surprise to receive a telephone call from The Guild of Master Craftsmen’s Chief Assessor of Scotland,” admitted Sirrell.

“The nomination to the Guild was for the quality and service that we have been providing over the years and this was made even more special as we had been nominated by our customers, which we were unaware of.

“We are very proud to now belong to an organisation that includes companies such as Harrods, Rolls Royce and Jenners amongst its members.”

At the opposite end of Britain, meanwhile, the first Interflora Flower School is poised to take place in November and December.
